My Story

As a teenager, I was the friend everyone talked to about their problems. As I got older, I was the coworker everyone came to when they wanted to vent, and they would ask how they should handle a problem whether it was personal or work-related. I often had complete strangers share very personal stories with me and then tell me they did not know why they were sharing it with me because they had never shared it with anyone before. I have been told many times that I have a calming presence about me which is funny because I used to struggle with anxiety even as a child.

At the age of 24, I became a single mother of a handsome son. Becoming a mother was the reality check I needed to get my act together. I was in college, living on my own, and having the time of my life. I had no one to consider or take care of but myself. Unfortunately, I was not taking college seriously. How does a 2-year degree, take 5 years to complete? This happens when you are not fully committed to what you are doing. I was partying regularly, working dead end jobs and dating. I was not making the best decisions for my life. However, getting pregnant with my son was one of the best things that happened to me. You may be wondering how I could make such a statement. Let me explain. When I realized life was no longer about me, but it was about the little human I was carrying; I became laser focused and set goals that I was determined to achieve. I had to make a better life for us.

Accomplishments

I am a trained marriage and family therapist, relationship strategist, empowerment coach as well as a licensed real estate broker. In addition, I have over 25 years of business experience in government, private and nonprofit sector. My educational background consists of a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy, and a Master of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and an Associate in Applied Science in Paralegal Technology. Also, I have specialized training in family mediation, domestic violence and sexual assault, trauma-focused counseling, emotional intelligence, just to name a few. I accomplished this while raising my son (who is now an adult) and working full-time. It was challenging but I made sure he was involved in extracurricular activities (sports, music, mentoring programs), did well in school, and had a social life (spent time with family and friends).

What do I love about coaching?

I love giving guidance, structure, knowledge, and wisdom to those seeking to become the best version of themselves. I love working with those who are driven and have determination; those who know they can do it, but they need assistance with getting started and implementation. Clients come to me with a goal, idea, or concept and I assist them with bringing it into reality by providing them with the tools and strategies that make implementation less stressful.

I love talking about business, relationships, spirituality, family and overcoming the challenges of life. I like to consider myself a well-rounded person because I am trained and educated in business and counseling. I am a wealth of knowledge because I like to read, and I love learning just for the sake of learning. I have worked in various jobs and industries: retail, hospitality, transportation, real estate, government, and nonprofit. I have been the lay person in a company as well as management/leadership. I have served as a mentor, coach, teacher, therapist, and trainer. I have the ability to come into a situation, assess it, identify the problem(s) and develop the solutions. I am an excellent listener.

My Belief

I believe to build healthy relationships with your family, friends, children, spouse/significant other and acquaintances (professional and social), you must improve yourself through personal and spiritual development.  While working as a relationship strategist/empowerment coach, I encounter many individuals who spend most of their time working diligently on changing their relationships or circumstances without first working on improving themselves.

As a result, I offer one-on-one client-centered coaching as well as group coaching which includes creating an effective plan of action to accomplish your established goal(s) and assistance with personal and/or spiritual development. In addition, I provide you with the necessary tools, strategies, skills, and techniques that bring about effective change in your life and relationships.
